Tutus & Bow Ties Party

May 17, 2012 - 6:42 am

My daughter turned 3 just a couple weeks ago. You may have seen some of these pictures last week on Pizzazzerie. If you missed them, here they are, plus a few more. Wow, it seems like I was just planning her 2nd Birthday Party, time does pass so quickly! Karidyn LOVES wearing a tutu every.single.day. so when it came to a party theme this year, it was an easy decision to do a tutu party. What is fun about this party theme is that it is more of a dress up party and less of a dance class party. I know that when she starts taking ballet, she will want a “real” ballet party, so that’s when we will go all out with a ballet instructor, etc. but this is more of a fun playful party for all the girls and the little boys. Since she has several little boy friends, we didn’t want to leave them out, so we added the adorable bow ties to make the theme just perfect for her and her friends! Here are some of my favorite pictures from the party:

Thanks for letting me share all the party pictures!

Working, Working & a Sneak Peek

May 15, 2012 - 6:33 am

You may wondering what you are looking at right now – why, it’s our new color chart! I’m so excited about these new colors as they truly represent the HollyDays brand and the colors you see regularly in my designs. We’ve prettied it up for the new website with the color names and my logo, but this gives you an idea of the fun new colors. The new HollyDays logo is also new with bright colors… I’m just bursting to show it to you, but I’m trying to exercise some self control!

I also took some fun pictures of some new favor bags and stripey straws we will be adding to the new site.

Make sure you sign up for our Mailing List if you haven’t already to receive special discount code when the new website launches!

Waiting

May 7, 2012 - 6:30 am

Have you ever been at a point in your life that you feel like you are waiting, everything is hanging in limbo and you know that things are about to happen? We are there… family and business. I’ve had this verse playing over and over in my head over the past few days:

As far as business goes, we’ve been working on our new website and I’m so excited about the unveiling of it. I started working on the new style last summer and it is exciting to finally see it happening! It is coming very soon.  Later, we’ll be adding a new cool feature to it that is still in the works. Here’s a sneak peek of our new site and branding design:

Ok, so I know it doesn’t show you much, but it give you a little idea! I am so excited about it – we even have a new logo and packaging/branding materials included in this transition… fun stuff!

As a family, my husband and I have been praying for about a year that God would guide us and direct us and help us know what direction He wants us to go as a family. Part of it involves selling our house. It has felt like a waiting game, but with some new developments in the past weeks we feel we are close to some answers. We are waiting, praying that He will work things out for our good and for His glory. One thing to remember, all things may not be good, but they are WORKED OUT for the good for those who are called according to His purpose.

Shop & Share Local

May 3, 2012 - 10:57 am

You know one thing I love about a small business is that behind the small business is a person, a family, who has tirelessly worked to see their small business survive. In this economy, it is great to see small businesses succeed. At the end of 2011, I joined our local shopping site, Shop Birmingham (www.shopbirmingham.com). It’s a locally owned site that showcases local businesses and products, so if you are looking for a particular product or gift item, whatever it may be, check them out first – you may be able to get it right here! According to ShopBirmingham.com, do you know that on average, if you spend $100 at a locally owned business $68 stays right in the community, how great is that!?

Here’s a glimse of what our store looks like on the website…

Speaking of serving your local community, thanks to your help, we are donating $75 more dollars to the Alabama Red Cross because of photos sent in and shirts sold last week on the 1st anniversary of the April 27, 2011, tornadoes in our state. Every little bit helps. You may remember our first check to them last year was for $4,046.26. Thank you for your support of our great community and state.

Here are just a few of the pictures (you can see more on our Facebook page):

Don’t forget to shop & share locally!

A Little Note about Special Projects

May 1, 2012 - 9:51 pm

I can’t wait to share some things we have in the works for HollyDays, but in the meantime, I have to take a little down-time from special custom projects. If you have an email already in to us or a project in the works we will get back to you/your project is still fine and in the works! Now, I have some catching up to do.

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl

April 30, 2012 - 5:00 am

My little girl is celebrating her 3rd Birthday today! Happy Birthday Karidyn! We had her party on Saturday and I can’t wait to share the pictures, but today we are taking some time to celebrate with her as a family.

Being a Mommy is the best job in the world. It’s hard to believe that only three short years ago…

Remembering & Honoring

April 23, 2012 - 11:32 pm

Friday marks the year anniversary of the tragic tornadoes that took the lives of 248* people here in Alabama.

If you purchased a Tornado Relief T-shirt from us last year, we encourage you to wear it this Friday, April 27, as we remember those who were affected. If you don’t have one, you can still order them here and they will ship immediately. Send in your photo(s) of you (or your children) wearing the shirts on Friday so we can share them on Facebook. You can email your pictures to us or you can post them on our Facebook page. For every photo we receive, we’ll donate $5 to the Alabama chapter of the American Red Cross**.

(*according to The Birmingham News, **one photo per person, photos must be received Friday, April 27, 2012)

Read Rework and Reworking my Work

April 19, 2012 - 6:30 am

So the book I bought Monday, Rework by Jason Fried & David Heinemeier Hansson, I’ve already finished it! It came in the mail yesterday and I thought “Gee, I’ll sit down and skim through it and then go to bed” and I ended up reading the whole book in one sitting last night. One sitting – never even got up one time to take a break… It really made me think about a lot of how I run my business as a mom and a wife and how success isn’t defined by how many employees you have or how busy you are. I’ll share more as I start to put some things I learned into practice! It was a super great book to me {minus a few choice words not in my vocabulary that they use to get their point across, so just as long as you don’t let your 10-year-old read it, you’ll be good… read it!}

On another note… just a week and a half until my daughter’s 3rd birthday party! Invitations are out {well, some are going to school friends tomorrow, yes even I run behind} Here’s a little teaser…

Yes, there is tulle & fabric on them! Yay!

Hope you have a great day!
